My favorite thing to do in Gatlinburg

Everybody in my family knows that I like potato chips.  But not just any chip.  They have to be thick and crispy and not too salty.  That pretty much eliminates everything but kettle chips.  I've sampled chips literally all over the world and the best ones I have found are only available in a few stores in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia.

Fortunately, one of those stores is in Gatlinburg.  It's the Food City store on the East Parkway.  We pass it every time we drive to Gatlinburg.

The chips are Food Club Original Kettle Cooked chips.

My favorite part of the trip to Gatlinburg is always being able to stock up on my favorite potato chips.  This box was full when we left Gatlinburg the last time.  Looks like it's almost time to get back for another supply!

Of course, there are tons of things to do in Gatlinburg when you stay at Smoky Mountain Tower or All Decked Out.  What's YOUR favorite thing to do?

One of my favorite spots.

There are lots of beautiful scenic spots in and around Gatlinburg.  This is one of my favorites:

This is one of the few spots on the Little Pigeon River where the water forms a reflection pool.  You can see the rocks in the distance, but this spot looks like a mirror.

It's a hard spot to find, but I'll tell you what to look for.  As you are driving south on the Parkway between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, this just south of Flat Branch road, about 3/4 of the way to the Gatlinburg Welcome Center.  It will be a very fast glimpse of the river as you go around a curve to the left.  There is a low stone wall at the spot, so there is no place to park right there - you have to go a couple hundred yards to park and walk back.

The next time you're staying at Smoky Mountain Tower or All Decked Out, and you're south on the Parkway, see if you can pick out the spot.  It will be worth looking for!  Let us know if you find it.
