I don't get it!

I hope you don't mind if I 'vent' a little bit.

Here we are at April 19.  We are just entering into the MOST PERFECT time of year to visit Gatlinburg.  Why?

First, the spring flowers are out.  Take a look at this picture of the rhododendrons at Smoky Mountain Tower (that's the flower of my life standing in front of them):

And that's just a small sample.  You should see the dogwood and the trillium and the daisies - and on and on.

The second reason is the weather.  The Accuweather forecast for the next 25 days is for temperatures in the high 60s or low 70s and hardly any rain.  It's the kind of weather you always dream about.

And the third reason is that it's not crowded yet!  The kids are still in school, so the traffic is light.  But the stores and attractions are open because they're getting ready for the summer rush.

And yet - as of right now, both Smoky Mountain Tower and All Decked Out are sitting EMPTY until May 10 (for Tower) and May 24 (for All Decked Out).  How come?  I just don't understand why people are missing the best time of the year!

The Road is OPEN!

We have just received the news that the road through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is now OPEN!  It opened more than a month early - can you believe that!  This picture is proof (it was just taken this morning):

What a gift this is for our guests!  This is the PERFECT time to visit the Park, because the flowers are blooming and the crowds haven't arrived yet.
