Pool table refurbishing - All Decked Out

I know we've been posting a lot about All Decked Out lately. But that's where most of the action has been during the past few weeks. This post will show you how Larry and Shane gave the pool table a complete overhaul.

If you go back to our March 1 post, you'll see how they took the table apart so the carpet could be laid. After that was finished, they came back and reassembled the table. That turned out to be the easy part. Here's the following sequence.

First, the table based is put back together and the table is carefully positioned to provide maximum room for players and their cue sticks. Then Larry inspects the bumpers and puts new felt on them.

Next, he seals the slate seams and any minor chips in the slate by melting a special beeswax into every crevice. It has to be done just right, or it will leave a tiny bump that will affect the movement of the balls.

After the beeswax is melted into the seams and other areas, the excess is scraped off.

Then every inch of the slate is carefully inspected. Even the slightest bump is smoothed out.

Now the new 'electric blue' felt can be installed on top of the slate. Again, it has to be tight and perfectly smooth. It's glued and stapled at strategic places.

The whole process takes almost 2 hours. But when they're finished, we have almost a new pool table!

On our next post, we'll show you what happened to the leather sectional couch. Meanwhile, to see all the changes we've made at All Decked Out, please click here to visit our Web site. You'll find all new pictures and a full description of 'What's New!'
