Our Gatlinburg history

We've been coming to Gatlinburg for more than 47 years. We actually spent a week of our honeymoon in Gatlinburg. The thing that attracted us most was the ability to spend time in all the quaint shops and still be able to "get away from it all" in the National Park. Unfortunately, after our wedding, we moved up north, started having children, and never got back to Gatlinburg for more than 25 years. But in 1989, we were transferred from Chicago to Memphis. We arranged to meet two other couples in Gatlinburg that fall to celebrate the three guys' birthdays.

That was the beginning of our Gatlinburg renewal. We found out that a man with whom Dave worked was actually starting an overnight rental agency in Gatlinburg. So we started renting cabins two or three times a year. We were hooked.

In 1995, we arranged for our whole family (our three girls and spouses) to spend Christmas in Gatlinburg. We rented Mountain Tower and fell in love with it. But it wasn't for sale. So in July 1996, we found All Decked Out and bought it. Two years later, Mountain Tower came on the market and we snapped it up. We'll tell you more about both cabins in future posts.
